RENOVERTY - Home Renovation Roadmaps to Address Energy Poverty in Vulnerable Rural Districts
RENOVERTY - Home Renovation Roadmaps to Address Energy Poverty in Vulnerable Rural Districts
National projectRENOVERTY fosters energy efficiency building upgrades in rural energy-poor households located within Central Eastern, South Eastern and Southern European countries by establishing the methodological and practical framework to build renovation roadmaps for vulnerable rural districts in a financially viable and socially just manner. Rural residents are facing three main energy poverty challenges:
- Building stock and infrastructure issues.
- Socio-economic inequality. • Limited public participation and representation in labour market. To address these challenges, RENOVERTY aims to:
- Promote the renovation of rural vulnerable districts and increase energy efficiency in 17 vulnerable rural areas in 7 regions by providing Renovation Energy Efficiency Roadmaps (REERs) according to the characteristics of the household and regions, with the collaboration of 12 Local Action Groups (LAGs).
- Provide comprehensive REERs according to the different geographical and social contexts, to scale results and to guide public actors to renovate rural vulnerable districts after the project ends.
- Empower all actors in rural areas in becoming involved in the process of renovating vulnerable districts/buildings by identifying barriers and co-designing activities with the collaboration of private and public sectors.
- Incorporate security, comfort, and improved accessibility in the roadmaps to further improve the quality of life of vulnerable populations.
Some concrete key performance indicators (KPIs) of the project include:
- 17 REERs Primary Energy Savings of 5.39 GWh/year
- Cumulative investments in sustainable energy triggered by project’s end amounting to 1,003,875 euro
- 115 stakeholders trained by end of project
- 1500 stakeholders reached by end of project.
The project started in 2022 an it will be completed in 2025.
Main beneficiaries: rural communities, vulnerable groups, energy-poor communities, and others.
It addressed the topics of: communities, energy efficiency, renovation, vulnerable consumers, accessibility.
