LIFE ReHABITA project aims to alleviate the energy poverty by fostering deep energy renovations of the energy inefficient homes of vulnerable families. The project will set up ReHABITA Offices (one-stop shops) to deliver an integrated home renovation services in some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the participating municipalities.

RENOVERTY fosters energy efficiency building upgrades in the energy poor households of Central and Eastern Europe / South-eastern Europe and Southern European countries by establishing the methodological and practical framework to build renovation roadmaps for vulnerable rural districts in a financially viable and socially just manner. Specifically, the project aims to deliver tools and resources to support local and regional actors to build and execute operational single or multi-household roadmaps for rural areas. A scalable model will also be created to ensure the wide geographical replicability and implementation of the roadmaps by different actors at the EU level.

POWERPOOR aims to develop support programmes / schemes for energy poor citizens and encourage the use of alternative financing schemes e.g. establishing energy communities / cooperatives, crowd funding). The rpoject facilitates experience and knowledge sharing, the implementation of behavioural changes and small-scale no-regret energy efficiency interventions as well as encourage the uptake of renewable energy sources through energy communities and cooperatives, increasing the active participation of citizens.

Smarter Finance for EU aims to accelerate the roll-out of certified green homes across Europe – including the development and adoption of over €100bn worth of green mortgages, loans and development finance. Led by Habitat for Humanity, the project’s energy poverty element will aim to improve the health and comfort, financial stability, and energy performance of very low income, vulnerable households. It will also facilitate European and global discussions on what knowledge and lessons learned can be shared when implementing solutions that combine government incentives with private bank financing.

The main objective of CEESEN-BENDER is to empower and support vulnerable homeowners and renters living in Soviet-era multi-apartment buildings. We will help them through the renovation process by identifying the main obstacles, and creating trustworthy support services that include homeowners, their associations, and building managers. The project will create a support system for homeowners, municipalities, and other large owners of multi-apartment buildings (MABs) in the targeted regions to speed up the renovation process. The team will develop specific tools to help municipalities and large housing stock owners effectively identify energy poor households and implement schemes to reduce energy poverty.

REVERTER aims to decrease energy poverty in Europe by addressing the poor energy efficiency of dwellings of vulnerable households. 9 different roadmaps will be developed and tested by setting up a network of pilots and the roadmaps will target the worst performing homes first (“worst first” principle).

The POWERTY project works to increase access to renewable energy for vulnerable groups to tackle energy poverty. It does this primarily by improving regional policy instruments targeting 4 topics: new innovative technologies, new formulas for financing, improving the regulatory framework and empowering vulnerable groups. Over the project's 4 year duration, the partners will develop a complete learning process to facilitate an effective knowledge flow between these regions.

The Green Energy Community (GECO) is a demonstration project in the Pilastro – Roveri district of Bologna. It comprises the creation of an energy community, an entity introduced by the EU Clean Energy Package (CEP). The GECO project intends to tackle social, technical and economic aspects related to the creation of the green energy community in order to increase sustainability, reduce energy poverty and generate a low carbon economic cycle. The project is carried out by AESS, ENEA, UNIBO, CAAB/FICO and Agenzia Pilastro, with the Emilia Romagna Region, GSE, RSE, City of Bologna, local associations, businesses and citizens and with the financial support of EIT Climate-KIC.

Just a Change is a non-profit dedicated to rebuilding homes for those living in Housing Deprivation and Energy Poverty. Renovating a house is an opportunity to rebuild a life. Improving living conditions leads to a reduction in health and safety risks. But it also means improving general living conditions of the population, thus resulting in a decline of poverty and criminality, bringing improvements in public health and energy efficiency. A new house assures a better quality of life, and the impact of the renovated home affects their daily life in terms of health, hope and safety.

Warm Up New Zealand was a government-subsidized residential energy efficiency and clean energy program, addressing respiratory illnesses and winter mortality rates. The Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (EECA) collaborated with home insulation companies, regional councils, energy trusts, and other partners to provide low-income households with grants covering 60% of the cost of insulation.
