In the POWERTY pilot, a collective photovoltaic installation was carried out on the roof of public schools to share most of the energy generated with families in a situation of energy poverty in the neighborhood. All this accompanied by legal, social and technical assistance.

WHAM offered an innovative model for supporting Bristol and North Somerset’s most vulnerable residents by providing advice on energy, money, benefits and carrying out home repairs. The support offered by the core organisations covered multiple facets, such as advice and monitoring of energy bills, home visits with safety checks or legal and housing advice.

The Valencia city council, through the Valencia Climate and Energy foundation, has launched the first Energy Office in the city. The Energy Office aims to operate as a one-stop-shop to assess, inform and give support to the citizens in terms of energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy poverty and energy transition.

SocialWatt aimed to enable obligated parties under Article 7 of the Energy Efficiency Directive across Europe to develop, adopt, test and spread innovative schemes to alleviate energy poverty. The appropriate tools developed within the framework of SocialWatt aimed to help utilities and energy suppliers effectively identify energy poor households, as well as develop and monitor schemes that focus on increasing the energy efficiency of these houses. The ‘SocialWatt Analyser’ tool combined such data with other available data (national, regional and local statistical data, data from social services etc.) to support utilities and energy suppliers identify energy poor citizens.

The association provides homeless families with the opportunity to move from self-built shacks to city-rented housing. The homeless families will move into previously derelict properties, which will be renovated by volunteers and the future tenants. On average, ten people will work per day on the renovation projects, with more over the weekends. The renovation process should take approximately 10 days.

Energise Sussex Coast (ESC) targeted residents living in deprived areas, who were more likely to be living in energy poverty. The Pop-up Energy desks increased the accessibility of the energy advice service, offered by ESC, to these residents. By going into these neighbourhoods, ESC was able to engage and build relationships with disadvantaged or marginalised groups.

The project aimed to offer support for insulating and heating houses, complemented by educating families about proper heating solutions in order to improve children health status as well as investing in development of new skills, which allowed beneficiaries to find a job.

The WELLBASED project objectives are to design, implement and evaluate a comprehensive urban programme to significantly reduce energy poverty and its effects on the citizens health and wellbeing, built on evidence-based approaches in six pilot cities that represent not only different urban realities but also a diverse range of welfare and healthcare models.

The project focuses on volunteering for energy advice to vulnerable families is a social initiative to improve comfort in the homes of families in situations of energy vulnerability, as well as savings in their energy bill through energy efficiency and energy renovations of homes.

The project delivered 1000 energy efficiency and thermal comfort upgrades to low-income householders with a social or health care need. It was designed as a randomised controlled trial, with homes upgraded either before winter (intervention group) or after winter (control group).
