SocialWatt

European project
SocialWatt aimed to enable obligated parties under Article 7 of the Energy Efficiency Directive across Europe to develop, adopt, test and spread innovative schemes to alleviate energy poverty. The appropriate tools developed within the framework of SocialWatt aimed to help utilities and energy suppliers effectively identify energy poor households, as well as develop and monitor schemes that focus on increasing the energy efficiency of these houses. The ‘SocialWatt Analyser’ tool combined such data with other available data (national, regional and local statistical data, data from social services etc.) to support utilities and energy suppliers identify energy poor citizens.

From Huts to Homes

The association provides homeless families with the opportunity to move from self-built shacks to city-rented housing. The homeless families will move into previously derelict properties, which will be renovated by volunteers and the future tenants. On average, ten people will work per day on the renovation projects, with more over the weekends. The renovation process should take approximately 10 days.

Energise Sussex Coast (ESC) targeted residents living in deprived areas, who were more likely to be living in energy poverty. The Pop-up Energy desks increased the accessibility of the energy advice service, offered by ESC, to these residents. By going into these neighbourhoods, ESC was able to engage and build relationships with disadvantaged or marginalised groups.
