Consumer Advice, protection and empowerment

ComActivate responds to growing levels of energy poverty across the EU, especially in the CEE region, by addressing the poor energy efficiency of buildings as a major driver of energy poverty, and as a driver of climate change. ComActivate will be implemented in five municipalities in four countries: Burgas in Bulgaria, Józsefváros in Hungary, Kaišiadorys in Lithuania. These countries represent different regions of CEE with differing sets of constraints, yet each country has a similar history, geography, climate, and operational constraints to their neighbouring cluster of countries, aiding regional replication.

It’s funded by Electricity North West and delivered in partnership with Citizens Advice in the North West and Energy Saving Trust.

The ComAct project aims to make high-impact/high-cost energy-efficient improvements in multi-family apartment buildings in the CEE and CIS regions affordable and manageable for energy-poor communities as well as to create the necessary assistance conditions for lifting them out of energy poverty.

Energy Poverty Zero's main objective is to support progress toward scale up of deep energy retrofit in vulnerable district to fight energy poverty by combining existing efforts on energy poor people support, one-stop-shops, deep-energy retrofit industrialization and district-based dynamics. The project develop will an approach that will allow to connect efforts performed to diminish cost of deep energy retrofit in social housing with industrialised prefabricated solutions with the private housing market.

LIFE ReHABITA project aims to alleviate the energy poverty by fostering deep energy renovations of the energy inefficient homes of vulnerable families. The project will set up ReHABITA Offices (one-stop shops) to deliver an integrated home renovation services in some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the participating municipalities.

CLEAR-HP aims to facilitate consumers’ access to heat pumps products by accompanying consumers throughout the whole purchasing journey, and by addressing financial and regulatory barriers. The project promotes consumer awareness and empowers them to lead the clean energy transition, improving the energy performance and comfort of their homes, in addition to reducing their energy bills.

DoppelPlus offers volunteer climate and energy coaches who work with on-site coaching sessions for households and use so-called starter packages. The project relies on easy-to-implement behavioural changes that improve people´s quality of life and enable them to make a contribution to society.

The CLEAR-X project aims to facilitate consumers’ access to household renewables at an affordable price, through the provision of trusted information, collective purchase schemes and an improved regulatory framework. Over the project's 3 year duration, it focus promoting the adoption of renewable energy sources (RES) to enhance energy efficiency.

The «Xarxa per una Transició Energètica Justa» in Castelló aimed to mobilise the different groups that make up the ecosystem of community based organisations of the city to make the social problems associated with the climate and energy crisis visible. It also aimed to promote a new energy culture that contributed to reducing energy vulnerability of families through a fair energy transition.

Banco dell'energia received funds from private donors with the aim to develop the project "Energy in the suburbs". Banco dell'energia identified non-profit organisations deeply rooted in the city of interest and able to take an active part in the project. Their role was to identify the beneficiaries (vulnerable families in energy poverty), to pay them energy bills through the funds received by Banco dell'energia and to do a timely report of payments. Moreover, the non-profit organisations carried out the activity of energy education and data collection.
