SAVES 2 aimed to reach over 219,000 students in eight countries across Europe to inspire them to adopt energy-saving habits at an early stage of their independent lives and to seek out energy efficient properties when moving into the private rented sector, to help minimise their exposure to fuel poverty.

The association provides homeless families with the opportunity to move from self-built shacks to city-rented housing. The homeless families will move into previously derelict properties, which will be renovated by volunteers and the future tenants. On average, ten people will work per day on the renovation projects, with more over the weekends. The renovation process should take approximately 10 days.

Energise Sussex Coast (ESC) targeted residents living in deprived areas, who were more likely to be living in energy poverty. The Pop-up Energy desks increased the accessibility of the energy advice service, offered by ESC, to these residents. By going into these neighbourhoods, ESC was able to engage and build relationships with disadvantaged or marginalised groups.

The creation of a grassroots movement to take action on carbon footprint reduction within a neighbourhood was successfully tested during the Interreg NWE funded project „Climate Active Neighbourhoods“. The grassroots movement was initiated and jointly managed by local inhabitants and local stakeholders.

NUOVE ENERGIE is the first consultancy desk on electricity and gas consumption in the city offered to the beneficiary families. The desk is run by volunteers after a training course by local consumer associations (ADICONSUM, FEDERCONSUMATORI).

The project aimed to offer support for insulating and heating houses, complemented by educating families about proper heating solutions in order to improve children health status as well as investing in development of new skills, which allowed beneficiaries to find a job.

The project focuses on volunteering for energy advice to vulnerable families is a social initiative to improve comfort in the homes of families in situations of energy vulnerability, as well as savings in their energy bill through energy efficiency and energy renovations of homes.

UP-STAIRS removed the barriers to citizen participation in the transition from a consumer-market to a ‘prosumer-market’. This transition required active learning and participation from all stakeholders. The UP-STAIRS Energy Service Framework enabled local authorities and citizens to work together through a common structure embodied in a one-stop-shop.

Solutions to Tackle Energy Poverty developed a simple, innovative and replicable model of measures to address energy poverty. STEP’s overall objective was to alleviate energy poverty by encouraging behavioural change and low-cost energy efficiency solutions among consumers in or at risk of energy poverty through trusted, tailored advice.

The aim of REACH project is to contribute to energy poverty reduction at practical and structural level. The project empowers energy poor households to take actions to save energy and change their habits, and to establish energy poverty as an issue that demands structural solutions at local, national and EU level.
