The project aimed to offer support for insulating and heating houses, complemented by educating families about proper heating solutions in order to improve children health status as well as investing in development of new skills, which allowed beneficiaries to find a job.

The WELLBASED project objectives are to design, implement and evaluate a comprehensive urban programme to significantly reduce energy poverty and its effects on the citizens health and wellbeing, built on evidence-based approaches in six pilot cities that represent not only different urban realities but also a diverse range of welfare and healthcare models.

The project is focused on volunteering for energy advice to vulnerable families is a social initiative to improve comfort in the homes of families in situations of energy vulnerability, as well as savings in their energy bill through energy efficiency and energy renovations of homes.

The project delivered 1000 energy efficiency and thermal comfort upgrades to low-income householders with a social or health care need. It is designed as a randomised controlled trial, with homes upgraded either before winter (intervention group) or after winter (control group).

UP-STAIRS removes the barriers to citizen participation in the transition from a consumer-market to a ‘prosumer-market’. This transition requires active learning and participation from all stakeholders. The UP-STAIRS Energy Service Framework enables local authorities and citizens to work together through a common structure embodied in a one-stop-shop.

Although the main objective of the sustaiNAVility project is to support sustainability at the regional level of Navarra, the project with a budget of over 1 million € focused on helping vulnerable groups.

The project aimed at ensuring that vulnerable households have access to renewable energies, helping to cover energy needs, and supporting multiple policy goals, such as affordable energy, job creation, and improved public health. Although the need is great, many households may not be able to afford RES installations or may be inhibited from participating in the energy transition for other reasons such as lack of access to information, difficulties to access finance or ownership patterns.
